Typography Cards
These type cards are part of a project exploring typography and differences in font families. The font families chosen are Modern, Display, and sans serif. I created a simple black and white design incorporating the alphabet and numbers of the font into an eye test. As you cannot see typography with our eyes, the design as an eye test is playfully sarcastic in its approach.

Display Type Card Detail

Display Type Card Detail: Display type refers to the use of type at large sizes. Some typefaces are considered useful solely at display sizes, and are known as display faces. Common features of display type include tighter default letter spacing, finer details and serifs, more condensed letter shapes, and larger differences between thick and thin strokes; many of these are most visible in serif designs.

Modern Type Card Detail

Modern Type Card Detail: Modern typefaces, which date back to the 18th Century, are characterized by features such as a great contrast between thick and thin stokes in letters. They also portray fine serifs, which are thin compared to heavy vertical lines.

Sans Serif Type Card Detail

Sans Serif Type Card Detail: Sans Serif is a type face without the small “serif’ features at the end of the strokes (see above Typeface). ‘Sans’ is derived form the French word meaning ‘without’. Sans Serif type is typically used for headings rather than body text.
