This series was created as a direct response to the gender inequality health care. I decided to draw inspiration from the 1950’s magazine ads to reference the outdated ideals that justify these changes to women’s health care. As our politics change and presidents come and go we cannot forget to protect half of our countries basic human rights. I have played with puns in the tag-lines to draw the viewer into the piece. The message on the ad states: ENDER INEQUALITY in health care is ever present. Women must pay higher insurance premiums than men. Being a woman is considered a preexisting condition. Fewer than ten state governments prohibit gender discrimination in insurance premiums.
